Argyle is silent on turf, with one clause worth resolving
A full search of the Argyle Town Development Standards returns no results for artificial turf and no synthetic turf provision anywhere. The single-family front yard requirement, section 14.3.67-7, is trees only: one large shade tree and two small ornamental trees, installed before the certificate of occupancy and maintained in a living and growing condition. There is one ambiguity worth naming. Section 14.3.67-5(A) states that all non-paved surfaces shall be completely covered with living plant material, but section 14.3.67-2 scopes the landscape standards to nonresidential and multifamily developments, with only minimal front yard standards applying to single-family. Read together, the trees-only rule governs your lot. We think that is right, and on a job of any size we get Argyle Community Development to confirm it in writing rather than leaving you exposed to a different reading.
Your water does not come from the town, and you are on Stage 2
This surprises people. Argyle Water Supply Corporation, which the town itself notes is not associated with the Town, serves more than 4,900 connections across Argyle, Corral City and parts of Denton County. As of this summer it is operating under Stage 2 restrictions, and the notice reads: one day a week outside watering only, pick between the days given, watering allowed 6pm to 10am, sprinkler systems odd addresses Thursday and Sunday and even addresses Wednesday and Saturday, with hand held, soaker hoses and drip irrigation anytime with no restrictions. That notice contains an internal contradiction between one day a week and the two days listed per address, which is exactly why we quote it verbatim rather than paraphrasing it into a number. Confirm your own position with AWSC before planning around it.
What a Argyle install involves
- Written interpretation on the living plant clause: trees-only is the right reading for a single-family lot, and we get it confirmed in writing on jobs of any size.
- Genuinely mixed soil: Gasil fine sandy loam at around a third, with Navo clay loam and Callisburg fine sandy loam each around a sixth and Sanger clay present. Argyle straddles Cross Timbers sand and Grand Prairie clay, site by site.
- Estate lots planned selectively: SF-2.5 requires two and a half acres and SF-1 requires one. The right answer is targeted zones, not acreage.
- Water provider confirmed: Argyle Water Supply Corporation rather than the town, currently under Stage 2. We check your current stage before promising a schedule.
- Septic located before excavation: the town issues on-site sewage facility permits alongside some municipal sewer. We locate the system before anyone digs.
- Written scope before work: cause, design and price in writing, unchanged once we start.
Where we work in Argyle
Argyle does not publish a municipal subdivision roll that we can verify against, so rather than repeat names from listing sites we work from the deed and plat records for your address. What the numbers do tell us is that Argyle is bimodal in a way most of its neighbors are not: the median home was built in 2002, but 34 percent of the housing predates 1990 and nearly 17 percent has gone up since 2020. That means we are working on genuinely old ranch properties with mature trees and brand new construction on scraped ground in the same week, and the two need entirely different specifications.

Is Argyle soil sandy or clay?
Genuinely both, and it varies lot to lot. Gasil fine sandy loam leads at roughly a third, with Navo clay loam and Callisburg fine sandy loam each around a sixth and Sanger clay present. Argyle sits on the boundary between Eastern Cross Timbers sand and Grand Prairie clay.
We are on septic. Does that limit where turf can go?
It limits where we can excavate, not whether you can have turf. We locate the tank and the drain field before designing, and we keep base excavation clear of both.
Can my HOA stop me even if the city allows it?
Yes. Texas Property Code section 202.007 protects drought-resistant landscaping and water-conserving natural turf; it does not name artificial or synthetic turf, and HB 2269 died in committee in 2025. We have dogs. Will it smell?

Who sets the watering rules in Argyle, and does turf change that?

Artificial turf sidesteps the question — it draws no water from any provider, so no schedule, stage, or rate change affects how it looks.
